APC Releases New Timetable For Election Schedule
The All Progressives Congress has moved its presidential primary for the 2027 elections to May 23, 2026, as part of a revised timetable.
The update was announced in Abuja after a National Working Committee meeting. Governorship primaries were also shifted to May 21. The changes are part of preparations for the next general elections.
Party officials said the adjustments were made to align with the Electoral Act and the schedule released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The sale of nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, while submission closes on May 4. Screening of aspirants is set for May 6 to May 9. Results and appeals will follow shortly after.
The timetable shows House of Representatives primaries on May 15, Senate on May 18, and State Assembly on May 20.
Governorship primaries will hold on May 21, with the presidential primary fixed for May 23. Appeal processes will take place after each round. The party said both direct and consensus methods will be used.
The process remains open to all qualified aspirants, with no restrictions on access to nomination forms. The revised plan falls within the window set by INEC for party primaries.
National elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, with governorship polls to follow in February. Campaign activities will begin later in 2026.
