The bandits who abducted 38 worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have reportedly demanded N100 million ransom for each victim.

According to reports, the kidnappers began contacting families of the abducted worshippers on Thursday, two days after the deadly attack that left five people dead.

A community leader, Chief Olusegun Olukotun, the Olori Eta of Eruku—whose four relatives are among the kidnapped—confirmed the ransom demand. He explained that he was inside the church with five family members when the gunmen invaded, but managed to escape with a ward through a window around 6:06 p.m.

Olukotun said the kidnappers have separated the abductees into groups based on family ties and have been calling community members with their demands.

He said:
“From what we gathered from the kidnappers’ camp, they have grouped the victims according to their relations and are now calling our people through each group. Some community members have already received calls demanding N100 million for each person. For my own people, I haven’t received any call yet—I’m still waiting.”

The attack occurred on Tuesday, November 18, when armed men stormed the church during a service, killing five worshippers and abducting 38 others. Authorities and community members are still searching for solutions as fear and tension grip the area.
