EFCC Wanted Ex Minister Now In Egypt
Counsel to former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq has said his client is currently in Egypt and unable to appear before the court due to health concerns.
The statement followed her declaration as wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Her lawyer, Oladipo Okpesheyi, explained that Farouq is receiving medical attention abroad and is not medically fit to return for proceedings at this time.
He urged the court to take her condition into consideration.
The EFCC had earlier declared the former minister wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The anti-graft agency is seeking her appearance before the court over allegations linked to her time in office.
The development has added another twist to the high-profile case, with legal arguments now centred on her health status and ability to face trial.
