My Governorship Ambition Is Driven By Service – Adelabu
In Ibadan, former power minister Adebayo Adelabu said his 2027 governorship ambition in Oyo State is about public service, not personal gain.
He spoke after returning from Abuja where he submitted his resignation. The declaration comes as political activity builds ahead of the next elections. He appealed for support from residents.
Adelabu warned fellow aspirants against using the names of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Olubadan to push their ambitions. He said neither has endorsed any candidate in the race.
According to him, such claims are false and should be ignored. He insisted the contest remains open to all interested aspirants.
He said his focus is to deliver inclusive governance that benefits all groups in the state.
His plans, he noted, cover the poor, youths, women and other residents. He promised to offer quality leadership if given the chance. The message is aimed at gaining early support across the state.
Adelabu also said party members should resolve issues internally and follow due process. He noted that consensus or direct primaries remain the path for selecting candidates in the All Progressives Congress.
He dismissed claims of royal endorsement, describing the Olubadan as a father figure to all. The race for 2027 in Oyo is expected to grow more competitive.
