No Foreign Troops In Terrorist Raid – Military
The Defence Headquarters has denied reports that foreign soldiers took part in the operation that killed terrorist commander Abu Bilal Al-Minuki.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Michael Onoja, said Nigerian troops carried out the mission without the involvement of any foreign combat force.
The clarification followed growing public debate after earlier statements linked the operation to joint efforts between Nigeria and the United States.
The military explained that although Nigeria works with international partners through intelligence sharing and security cooperation, the actual combat operation was handled solely by Nigerian personnel.
According to the Defence Headquarters, the operation formed part of ongoing military offensives against terrorist groups operating in the Lake Chad region and other troubled areas.
Security officials said the mission targeted key insurgent figures believed to be coordinating attacks and extremist activities across the region.
The military maintained that Nigerian troops remain capable of confronting insurgency and protecting the country’s territorial integrity.
Authorities also assured citizens that operations against terrorists and armed groups would continue as security agencies intensify efforts to restore peace across affected communities.
