IGP Orders Rescue Mission After School Attack
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a joint security operation to rescue pupils abducted during an attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Gunmen invaded the area on Friday, killing a teacher and an okada rider before taking away several pupils from different schools.
The police chief visited the affected community over the weekend to assess the situation and gather intelligence on the attack.
During the visit, he assured residents that security agencies were working together to secure the safe return of the kidnapped children and restore calm in the area.
Disu also directed the deployment of more tactical teams and intelligence officers to strengthen operations around the forests and nearby communities.
Senior police officers from Oyo and Kwara states joined the visit because of the area’s closeness to border communities.
The Inspector-General later met with security officials in Oyo State to review rescue efforts and security strategies already in place.
He assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to protect schools, communities and citizens across the country.
