Makinde Gives New Update On Oyo Abductions
Seyi Makinde has confirmed that seven teachers were abducted during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The governor also revealed that one of the kidnapped teachers was killed by the attackers during the incident.
Makinde spoke after a late-night security meeting in Ibadan, where he said rescue operations were ongoing across the affected communities.
He explained that the exact number of abducted pupils was still unclear because many parents rushed to evacuate children after the attack.
The governor disclosed that soldiers, police officers, Amotekun operatives, hunters and intelligence agencies were already carrying out joint operations in the area.
He added that some security operatives were injured after encountering explosive devices planted by the attackers during the rescue mission.
Makinde also confirmed the arrest of several suspects believed to be assisting the criminals with information and logistics.
He assured residents that the government would continue daily updates while security agencies sustained efforts to rescue all victims and restore peace to the communities.
